Going to pick one up at 8 and the other at 12, but which should I take first? My DEX is already maxed, I will be able to hide as a bonus action and will have a familiar.
I have a ranger 9 / rogue 2 that I play in Stormkings and have sharpshooter. It’s a cool feat but I find I don’t use it more then c. 50% of the time. When facing enemies with high AC that you feel you must hit, the gamble of taking the -5 feels daunting. If on other hand I had the Elven accuracy it would improve chances and I would use the SS more regularly I believe. So- my advice is take Elven Accuracy first. Add the +1 it offers to your wisdom. Happy hunting!
If your ruthlessly using your allies as cover (firing past them and the like) then sharpshooter is great for that and also firing through and past other obstructions. If all your enemies attack under cover of daylight across open fields then take elven accuracy. If not sharpshooter might be a good shout - standing back from a firing port and 'ignoring cover' to hit with no chance of enemies hitting you in return (+5 ac and probably unable to be seen so disadvantage on the attempt) is worthwhile. Sash, is playing in adventure against giants, and yes giants find it a little tricky to take advantage of sufficient cover to hide 50% of their mass behind. In those circumstances elven accuracy may be the right call.
Whatever you choose, dont worry about when you cant use it, but savour when it all comes together and have fun!

Yeah, in my online game I had taken SS first, but we hit 8 soonish, so EA will be coming on soon. For this game I will see how often cover comes up and use that to help determine
Good luck with it, Oh and if you do have sharpshooter - work out with your DM how far you can be expected to see something with your passive perception. Out of buildings and tombs the lack of disadvantage on long range shots means your likely to have a potential of 4 or 5 rounds of archery practice on someone before they can even reach you even if they dash toward you and you dont bother moving away. Its not often thought about but in practice it means many of your opponents will be dead or badly injured before they are even in range of your party.

Take care Aaron.
yeah, my passive at level 3 is 17, will ultimately be 31
3.5 had spot/listen checks (not perception) with penalties for range - harder to see / hear further away. 5th doesnt have penalties like that, its either advantage or disadvantage. This is why its important to ask in advance. If your DM insists you can only see something that has been flying towards you from miles away when it is within 150' then sharpshooter isnt worth it. If they reasonably accept you are aware of it and have been for some time then the victories by distance can begin.
I would be in for an argument if my dm ruled only 150 ft of daytime visibility unless there is some kind of weather effect happening, the 600 is pretty accurate to real life capabilities

Hah I hear you, but double checking the things you plan to use and how you wish to use them with the DM in advance is always recommended. Enjoy!
