Seeking advice for my tabaxi rogue thief in Tomb of Annihilation. Just reached Level 4 and need to decide on ASIs or feat. Current scores are 13 (Str), 19 (Dex), 14 (Con), 15 (Int), 12 (Wis), 15 (Cha). Skills are Acrobatics, Athletics, History, Investigation, Perception (Expertise), Sleight of Hand, Stealth (Expertise), and Survival. Weapons are light crossbow, daggers, whip (haven’t used yet), and claws (haven’t used yet). Interested in expertise in Thieves Tools and one of the following at Level 6: Athletics, Investigation, or Sleight of Hand.
Completely stumped on which option to pick at Level 4. My top contenders include the following (but I’m willing to consider other options) ...
Athlete Feat for +1 Dexterity (plus 5 ft to stand from prone, 5 ft for running jumps, and possibly expertise in Athletics if DM allows). Seems to fit with being a tabaxi. Would help with Athletics checks when climbing (Second-Story Work). Could drop prone (free action) to try to avoid ranged attacks and then stand without losing lots of movement.
+1 Dexterity and +1 Strength (+1 to claw attack, +1 to Strength saving throw, +1 to Strength checks, longer/higher jumps). Seems to fit with being a tabaxi. Would help with Athletics checks when climbing (Second-Story Work).
+1 Dexterity and +1 Intelligence (+1 to all Intelligence checks). Fits with being an archeologist (background) with interests in history, ruins, artifacts, etc. ... though maybe not needed because we have a smart wizard in the party.
Mobile Feat (+10 ft to walking speed, no opportunity attacks, easy Dash through difficult terrain). Fits with being a tabaxi. If not taken at Level 4, would definitely consider at Level 8.
Healer Feat (use Healer’s Kit with Fast Hands). Could serve as backup healer when our cleric goes down, but I’m worried Healer’s Kits will be hard to find in the Chult jungle.
Dungeon Delver Feat (better at finding secret doors, surviving trap damage, etc.). Fits with archeologist background. However, character already has a Wand of Secrets (points to secret doors and traps within 30 ft), so maybe not an essential feat?

i would not go athlete because then you would have 3 climbing speeds and healer would be bad for the reason you stated and dungeon delver is ok but mobile sounds good
If UA is allowed, I would suggest to take a look at the feat Practiced Expert to really make you the master skillmonkey. You can round up your DEX, get an additional Expertise and Skill prof.
If no UA, just round up your DEX and be happy. Mobile is always great.
I like the idea of the Practiced Expert feat ... but I would need to talk to my DM to see if UA feats are allowed. Does anyone know if a version of Practiced Expert will appear in Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything???

I don’t actually know, but it seems so. Practiced Expert is a clear buff to the Prodigy feat.

Is Practiced Expert (UA) the same as Skill Expert (Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything)? Does anyone know the exact wording of Skill Expert?
Never heard about Skill Expert, but probably could be the same.
