This feat bumps any one or two on "a damage die" to a three.
What is the interaction between this and divine smite, divine favor and hunters mark? Do those become minimum three damage as well since they all qualify as "a damage die"?
Savage attacker feat specifically says you can only re roll the "weapons damage dice".
I would assume there is a deliberate wording choice by wotc that differentiates between "a damage die" and "the weapons damage dice". Meaning "a damage die" refers to any dice that contributes to the total damage roll of the attacks.
Just wanted to share this information from the Sage Advice Compendium (still based in the 2014 rules):
Savage Attacker Does the Savage Attacker feat work with unarmed strikes? No. Savage Attacker relies on a weapon’s damage dice, and an unarmed strike isn’t a weapon (a point that was clarified in the Player’s Handbook errata). Does the benefit of the Savage Attacker feat apply to additional effects like the rogue’s Sneak Attack or the paladin’s Divine Smite? No. The benefit of Savage Attacker applies only to rolls of the weapon’s damage dice, not to any extra damage that a feature or other ability might grant.
If t doesn't specify it's just the weapon's, then it's all of them. Smites, sneak attacks, etc.
They're all doubled for a crit, as well
This is literally the only way to justify taking Savage Attacker in 2024, without this the damage increase is so small, any other origin feat would do better. For rogue that is pretty good, since at level 5, doing a sneak attack is basically a minimum of 16 damage (1d6 dagger, 3d6 sneak attack, +4 dexterity) but it's lackluster for any class but rogue. Even the effects on smites aren't really justifying if for Paladin since Paladin doesn't smite every round. Perhaps some subclasses, like Berserker for Barbarian, can justify it.

First of all, "I want to" is a perfectly good justification.
Secondly, Savage attacker, either version, specifies the weapon's damage dice, so you do not get to use it on sneak attack or smite or the like.
Great Weapon Fighting doesn't specify only the weapon's damage.

I agree with the answer.
