Since Thezzaruz corrected me in this thread about Ready an attack or a spell, I was wondering if I'm ruling correctly on what kinds of actions a player can choose.
Let me start with this rule about actions in combat (PHB, p. 192):
Actions in Combat When you take your action on your turn, you can take one of the actions presented here, an action you gained from your class or a special feature, or an action that you improvise. Many monsters have action options of their own in their stat blocks.
And now, here are some examples of actions I think a player could choose. Please let me know if I'm on the right path.
Intimidating Presence: Beginning at 10th level, you can use your action to frighten someone with your menacing presence.
Divine Intervention: Imploring your deity’s aid requires you to use your action.
Channel Divinity: Read Thoughts: As an action, choose one creature that you can see within 60 feet of you.
Corona of Light: Starting at 17th level, you can use your action to activate an aura of sunlight
Wild Shape: Starting at 2nd level, you can use your action to magically assume the shape of a beast that you have seen before.
Empty Body: you can use your action to spend 4 ki points to become invisible for 1 minute.
Hand of Healing: as an action, you can spend 1 ki point to touch a creature and restore a number of hit points equal to a roll of your Martial Arts die + your Wisdom modifier.
Volley. You can use your action to make a ranged attack against any number of creatures within 10 feet of a point you can see within your weapon’s range.
Whirlwind Attack. You can use your action to make a melee attack against any number of creatures within 5 feet of you,
Benign Transposition: you can use your action to teleport up to 30 feet to an unoccupied space that you can see.
Some common items. For example, Acid: As an action, you can splash the contents of this vial onto a creature within 5 feet of you or throw the vial up to 20 feet, shattering it on impact.
The use of some magic Items when they require an action to be activated
As a side note, I don't yet know how Ready will be ruled in the PHB 2024, but it seems that, for example, the Magic action will replace the generic action in places where it previously said "an action". For instance, for Hand of Healing, where that feat now uses the Magic action.
As you've said, if the new book introduces a Magic action and eliminates the Cast a Spell action, then some types of actions may interact with the Ready action a bit differently in the future. This might also come into play when casting spells from Magic Items. We shall see.

This all looks legit to me!
