I have a player who uses his shield guardian to cast Warding Bond (due to spell storing) on his owner. As far as I know shield guardians take half the damage from their masters when within 60 feet and warding bond grants resistance to all damage to its recipient and takes that damage to the caster as well. The thing is it's too complicated on how to calculate the damage received of the owner and how much is transferred to the shield guardian. The way I thought it out is this: Example the owner takes in 20 slashing damage. But due to the resistance granted by Warding Bond, it only takes in 10 damage. It would also supposed to deal 10 damage to the Shield Guardian because of the Warding Bond but he said the effect of the Shield Guardian is still there, taking only half the damage thus each of them takes 5 damage only. Is this right? I think the damage mitigation from 20 damage to 5 damage is too wide.
I need help on the scenarios and calculations! Thanks!
If I'm reading everything correctly, the player should take 5 damage and the Shield Guardian takes 10. The shield guardian is the caster, and the player is the amulet wearer. So, the player has resistance to all damage, but there are 2 damage transfers that trigger; 1 from the Warding Bond and 1 from the shield guardian's Bound property.
So player gets hit for 20, which is reduced to 10. Half of that is transferred to the guardian, so now your player has only taken 5. That 5 is then also applied to the guardian via the Warding Bond. So 5 to your player and 10 to the guardian.
I could also make a case that the player takes 5 and the guardian takes 15. But certainly they wouldn't take 5 each.
While resistances are applied after all other modifiers that reduce damage. That is not the case in this instance as the damage is being transferred when taken and there is a pretty clear order to when that happens
Here is how I would see it.
Resistance cuts damage in half by the warding bond, this triggers the character taking 10 points of damage and 10 points of damage being transferred to the caster of the spell. RAW. Then as the shield guardian owner, you have just taken 10 points of damage which triggers the transfer of half of damage taken to the SG. You end up taking 5 and the SG ends up taking 15.

I think it works the way you described:
1) Resistance for Warding Bond: 20 points of damage become 10 for the caster and 10 for the Shield Guardian.
2) Bound trait of the Guardian: then 10 points of damage becomes 5 for the caster and 5 for the Guardian.
So, in the end, the caster takes one-fourth of the initial damage, the Guardian three-fourths of it.
It should be remarked that a shield guardian is a huge boon for a character.
