hi. does any attack that lowers max hp by the same amount work like this example please----i have 63 hp, i get hit for 32. my total hp becomes 31 and i lose 32 so im out, or example 2--63 hp, i lose 32 leaving me 31, so my new max is 31 hp.
It is the latter. If you have a max 63hp and get hit for 32 hit points of damage that also reduces max hps then you will have 31hps left AND your max hit points is also 31.
A better example might be a character who has max 100hp and is currently at 63hp. They get hit for 32 hit points of damage that also reduces max hps. The character will then have 31 hit points remaining with a revised max hit points of 68hps (100-32 = 68). So if they are subsequently healed then the maximum they can be healed is to 68hps (their new max) and not 100 (until the reduction of max hps is fixed).
If an effect lowers your max HP, it has no effect on your current HP unless you're currently over the new max. In that case, your current is lowered to your new max. If an effect raises your max HP(or undoes a previous lowering), your current HP does not by default increase to fill the void. Any exceptions will be stated explicitly in the rules for the ability/spell/effect in question. For example, the spell Aid states that it increases both your max and current HP.
