What are the limits of mirage arcane? Could I, say, add many cubic structures of steel to an underground base to suffocate people since it feels like you're being crushed? Also, can I make complex machinery? For reference, I am in essentially a spelljammer campaign for lack of a better term. We use 5e, kind of. There is a lot of homebrew.
As a rule of thumb if a spell doesn't explicitly say the effect it creates can deal damage/kill, it doesn't. And you're really stretching the definition of "structures" to try and get working machinery with the spell.
No and no. "Structures" is not "completely fill the area with solid steel" and you are affecting terrain not open space or sky, so creating a structure that isn't on the ground is not possible. Likewise "Structures" is not "working machinery" you could make a warehouse or a factory building but you could not fill that warehouse will stuff nor have the factory filled with machinery.
