the thing about the incapacitated condition is that you're usually incapacitated because of another condition, e.g paralyzed, unconscious. incapacitation is a catch-all that makes the rules easier to write, by allowing the rules to refer to "while not incapacitated" instead of "while not unconscious, paralyzed, petrified, ..."
thus, in the usual case, you're dealing with what is making you incapacitated, e.g. sleep spell, paralysis gas, etc.
I can't speak for the effect that caused the thread, but I can give you an example i have seen. The Krake Spawn from the Tome of Beasts has the following action:
Vomit Forth the Deeps (1/Day). The krake spawn sprays half-digested food from its maw over a 15-foot cone. This acidic slurry causes 3 (1d6) acid damage and targets must make a successful DC 18 Constitution saving throw or be incapacitated until the end of their next turn.
In this case, it's only a round, so not as big a deal as 1 minute, but if it happens to you, you're just along for the ride until the condition ends. I don't know of any way to cure incapacitation. Lesser Restoration and Greater Restoration have nothing that specifically addresses the incapacitated condition.

well is Tome of Beasts 'official' if not that might be way its the only time seeing incapacitated used in that way.
Also since its only incapacitated you can move and speak still. The Condition Incapacitated just states you can't take actions or reactions. Its when you become incapacitated thru other means that effects your movement.
that seems to be an example more of poor mechanical design. admittedly, it's only one round, so you could get away with walking away crying out "ewww". I'd still like to know what this effect from the OP was. I suspect it must have been another similar non-official thing. Designers are either deliberately choosing it because you can still move or speak, or they don't understand the specific mechanics of incapacitation and think it's just another form of stunned or something.

We ran into an effect that caused you to be incapacitated for 1 minute, no recurring save.
So, we could not find any way to allow for removal of this condition. Is there any way that removes incapacitated condition?

What effect is causing the incapacitation?
