In a recent battle my Goblin Rune Knight was stopped by a wall which had a space to move through that required the person to be medium or smaller. At the time I was enlarged by the Giant's Might ability. While it would make sense that you would be able to end the ability there is no wording addressing this. As there been any clarification on this or is this as it is intended?
In my campaign, we’ve been saying you can just turn it off. But RAW, it doesn’t seem to say anything about that. So I guess we’ve been using a house rule.
I can see an argument for it staying on. It’s not a concentration effect, so times when the character has dropped, we’ve let it stay up while they’re unconscious. So saying you can’t shut it off at will helps balance that out a bit.
My vote is that you are NOT able to end this ability early. Just contrast the wording vs the Rage class feature for a Barbarian where that ability description clearly and explicitly outlines when and how you are able to end that ability early, if desired. Note that in the case of Rage it requires a Bonus Action to voluntarily end the effect early, so assuming that you can just do it for free in the case of the Giant's Might is probably a bad assumption.
