So a level 4 Artificer can know four infusions, but can only use 2 at a time?
So if i make dark-vision goggles and a +1 sword so I can use my INT to attack with melee, there's no way to make a bag of holding or one of my other two infusions will disappear?
Whats the point of knowing 4? most of the magic item ones are things you would want forever not just temporarily. Like Ogre gauntlets for my paladin, once I make those, i couldn't imagine having them disappear just to leave them with 14 STR again.

seems so.

Seems so. By the way, is it a subclass feature (I don't have the new book, only wayfairer's guide) that allows you to make a melee attack with int?

What happens when you obtain a magic item that you already infused? If your DM decides to give you a pair of dark-vision goggles, then you can immediately (next short rest) choose a new infusion, and you're not losing out on a class feature or losing out on items from the game.

The battle Smith has a feature that lets it use INT when attacking with a magic weapon.
You can only change one of your known infusions when you level up, it just lets you prepare for the day.
If you are in a rock field looking for magic items or something, guantlets of ogre power might be better than a bag of holding.
If you are in a dungeon full of monsters, it might be better to make an enhanced weapon than sending stones. It just lets you be more versatile and flexible every day.

What’s the point of druids knowing all their spells when they can only prepare a few of them?
The idea is that you can be prepared for a couple of scenarios and change it with a long rest.
