Note I have not bought the new cauldron(and I rarely buy digital versions. Anyhow) so I wish to ask a question, does the new swarm technique stack with colossal slayer? Yes or no?
My question is it okay for me to convert(the spell giant insect) into a dice skill, and re-flavoring it as just minor training in wild shape, big part about the character using transformations into giant insects, but I do not want to add the bonuses of being a druid.
(I know I know I just asked up about a Maxtor question! But there's there is a form of maxing that I find acceptable. And then there's been maxing for the concept of well just because nobody happens to be in a party with you means you can always steal the spotlight.)
Colossus slayer and the “swarm technique” are features from separate subclasses of the same class. There is no way in dnd 5e to take features from multiple subclasses from the same base class.
they did introduce the concept of switching subclasses though.
your questions seem to be all over the place. You mention features from the druid class, and multiple different ranger subclasses. I’m not sure exactly what your build is to even be able to answer the rest of your post.
1st of all, Swarmkeeper doesn't have the Giant Insect spell in Tasha. It was in the UA but not in the actual book. Tasha's Swarmkeeper is quite different from UA's Swarmkeeper. Comparison video
2nd, Giant Insect doesn't change form. It summons a giant insect by enlarging an insect.
3rd swarm technique does not stack with colossal slayer because they are from different subclass
Thank you for the answer, I'm also watching a campaign, so I might be just thinking in that campaign, there's a ranger that has the feature, I thought it was one of the set was a similar thing to warlock.
I watched him too, also last time I read the spell it says summon or transform, but then again I could be missing. Remembering! To be fair. I'm also talking in some of the house rulings. By the way, I do agree with him that they need to make the spell system a standard for sorcerers!
I just noticed, due to the change in the spell list and abilities, we lose also the ability to have our swarm basically doubled to have animal messenger, or one of the other many communication spells along with it. Because arcane Eye is just a giant invisible eyeball that is capable of seeing with dark vision, and communicating telepathically transmit images to your eyes. It would be interesting if they also gave us for free animal messenger, I can see why they got rid of the teleportation ability, though for that early.
