I have played a few years but newer to DMing. So I am a little nervous to post this. I think i have a really good and engaging story but would like some of the concepts to be backed up by true lore. Or at the very least feels reasonable
Concept 1: A long time ago in an epic battle a very old Treant gave up its awakened state to help some adventurers trap/imprison a lich/demilich inside the Treant's body. The evil influence of the lich only extends to the edges of the grove.
Question 1: Is this even possible based on spells and the old magic of treants?
Concept 2: A very powerful magic user is combining (or creating a new spell) with the effects of enhance abilty and plant growth. As that user travels around they did not realize that the grove where the lich is imprisoned (that grove would be their dungeon for game mechanics) is in the 1/2 mile radius and the ritual some how awakens the tree or something nearby allowing the lich to either be free or take over a treant body. Maybe the sould gems are trapped in the tree or something. The crops that grow due to this spell have a slighty altered color and as long as their are eaten regularly the consumer has an enhanced ability.
Question 2: I want to have a costly and high ability called spell weave or spell craft allowing a magic user very high beable to combine certain spells (would have to make some specific rules). Even if not a game mechanic it is important to the story overall. Not sure if possible?
I am thinking both the magic that trapped the lich and the magic to spell weave are going to be loosely based on how the song of rest works. Very old, secret and forgotten songs have strong magic kind of thing.
I hope this made sense and wasn't to boring or out there
You’re the DM. Any magic you say exists, exists. You can make up some smart sounding gobbledegook involving bindings and wards and all that jazz if you want, but at the end of the day if you want magic to be able to do something not expressly stated in the rules, then magic can do that thing.
