Hey! I’m working on a website on D&D Backstory Writing for a project at school, I think I've got some actual solid advice on there for new players (or anyone who wants to write a dope backstory honestly) so I’d really appreciate it if you wanted to take a look here! Hopefully it’ll help some people out, and any feedback would be appreciated too!
One might think that mismatched alignments working together well is the exception and not the norm, but it would surprise me if favorable mismatched alignments (as defined by the characters' actions, not the character sheets) aren't quite common.
I think it's less about the alignment and more about players understanding each other.
I've seen a single Chaotic Evil character in a bunch of Goods and Neutrals work very well together with barely any distinct friction and they all adhere to their alignments in practice (and believe you me that she's Chaotic Evil amidst the others). By "distinct," I mean that there is the rare disagreement, but it's not specific to the Evil character more than any other character with any others in the group. The alignment doesn't seem to me to be the key factor in parties working together.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Human. Male. Possibly. Don't be a divider. My characters' backgrounds are written like instruction manuals rather than stories. My opinion and preferences don't mean you're wrong. I am 99.7603% convinced that the digital dice are messing with me. I roll high when nobody's looking and low when anyone else can see.🎲 “It's a bit early to be thinking about an epitaph. No?” will be my epitaph.
