I know a silly question in text, but I like phonetics...anyone have a solid idea on how to pronounce: "Geradil" and "Courana", the two commoner prisoners in Forge of Fury (Tales of the Yahning Portal.) I was going with Jairr-ah-deel and Korr-ah-na.
As a more important side note, if you had a particularly amazing role play with these two captives that your players had with them, let me know. I only have 8 hours of DM experience, and I am learning to use Roll20...so advice is welcome. Should I simply try to encourage the players to return them home for a reward? Should it be a difficult choice? They were hired by the Noble in the character hooks, to map the place looking for the precious weapons cache. My players will most likely meet them next session...thanks!
We just did this one, and so Geradil is now stuck in my mind as with a hard G.
Courana is as you wrote it is also what I heard.
No logic or reasoning for either.
The big role play we had was along the lines of "How do get them home", which had 3 lines of thought"
Take us home NOW (Geradil)
The way out is clear they should go! (2 out of 6 players)
They should follow us until we are ready to leave (4 of 6, and Courana, mostly because she was horrified at #2 and didn't want to push for #1)
There are probably other options for Evil characters like "Ransom them" or "Kill the weak ones" or "Let them stay in their cage" but we weren't into that.
With my sense of phonetic aesthetics, I might say /geːɾɑdil/ and /kuːɾɑnə/ though I do think those will probably sound highly affected to most American English-speaking ears.....

either e/em/eir pronouns OR fey/fem/fear OR be/bim/bos pronouns {if you don't want to learn new words, singular they is OK}
