I’m building a character and I’d love to hear some opinions about the concept
She is a variant-human barbarian (pole master feat). My first concept was a multiclass twilight cleric-barbarian. The idea was taking cleric powers as some kind of vampire/lycanthrope’s bite (just in twilight hours, so she didn’t get transformed but catch some night powers).
However as we started the game before Tasha’s was released, I took Forge Cleric instead. I did so with two ideas in mind:
1- Practicality. To get better use of PAM in the first place and, as long as barbarians rely basically on weapon attacks, to have the magic weapon issue cover. Just in case!
2- To get a feminine character in an usually masculine role (blacksmith).
With this Forge Cleric/totem barbarian heroine, the concept was to have a heroine with a powerful fire totem (could it be a Dragon a Phoenix or a Salamander) however, to mix the Totem animal with a Cleric deity is kind o weird... kind of hard to imagine. I mean, apart of the fire issue, how are a blacksmith deity and a Dragon/ Salamander/Phoenix related? No tribal priestess flavour here, just a sort of magical weapon maker of some kind.
So far the practical side works pretty well (I have even used my forge skills a couple of times) but I cant figure it the totem-deity mix out and cant avoid to think a dwarf hero will make for a better fit with a forge cleric character! (I know, I know, just the cliché I wanted to change in the first place)
What do u think? Any thought? Would be difficult to imagine a Totem barbarian –forge cleric heroine?
Should I hold on to the forge version or come back to the Twilight cleric idea?
Maybe the totems are emissaries of your deity that inhabited the figures you created? Like your deity blessed your work with their powers of a flaming forge and enabled you to use the forge-hot flames in battle?

I think you may be relying too much on mechanics and tropes. A "Totem barbarian –forge cleric heroine" can be anyone. What do I think? Yes!
Your creations as a blacksmith can be directly involved with your totem so yes you should be fine.
Thank u for your feedback guys!
Thank u Crimsoness. Not a bad idea at all! That will help to figure it out!
Acme! You are right, I do rely maybe a little too much on mechanics and tropes, my fault! Not that it stops me from playing though!
I am happy u do not give the slightest thought about archetypical canon, I wish it is a general thought here!
I will hold on the character all right and will see how it evolves!
Cailey, thank u too! If none of you have a problem with it, I suppose it is not as important an issue as I thought it was!
