So my Palladian just died and I'm looking as a different class but I want to keep a good party cohesion.
We are level 10 in the Tomb of Annihilation and fairly deep into it at this point. With out spoiling anything we just left the Mirror room, those who have played can guess how I died just after leaving there.
Not sure if I should be another tank or a spell caster. Any advice on a class or warnings on what I could struggle with would be appreciated.
Ideally I'd like to aim for something that is really hard to hit and good at movement and evasion. So a sorta tank in the respect I use up enemy actions.
Tank? Spellcaster? Why not cover both and be a Cleric. I think Forge Cleric sounds like a solid option... Heavy Armor proficiency, skill with tools... if you're bringing them in at level 10 you come in with all your domain spells already under your belt... Animate Objects alone brings in a huge battlefield control element as you can bring in as many as 10 tiny creatures to dash around the battlefield either dogpiling on a single enemy, or even just eating up reactions to hit them. You also get a lot of abilities that let you craft objects and supplies, which i imagine is most useful in situations where you're, say... trapped in a giant tomb without regular access to stores.

Thank you for the detailed response, Sounds really good I'll have a go at making one and get back with my thoughts.
Your party seems to be lacking in high WISDOM characters. In addition to Clerics, have you considered Druids and Rangers?
A Spores Druid would fit well with the Tomb of Annihilation theme. A Moon Druid would benefit from being able to Wildshape into dinosaurs.
As for Rangers, a Horizon Walker at 10th level has access to Haste, and by 11th level you can do mini-teleports around the battlefield without using a spell slot.

That sounds amazing, however unfortunately I have never played a Ranger or Druid before and level 10 would be a lot to learn, but if I had they sound like great options. Fortunately we have an awakened velociraptor that the Bard likes to transform into a T-rex, which covers a lot of heavy hitting. So we already have that benefit of dinosaurs helping which is amazing. I was looking for a class that can zip around the battlefield fast, next time I want a character like that I'll certainly look into ranger.
For now I have decided with my DM to be a cleric, which works well for me as 1: I play a cleric at another group and understand them well and 2: They can benefit from my previous characters gear.
For now, your best bet for more mobility as a Cleric is to play as a class with a higher move speed... I think Wood Elf would be the easiest, since it's one of the PHB races, but depending on what you have access to you could go for a Centaur, a Satyr, or maybe an Air Genasi. You could also go for Tabaxi for their limited super-dash, or a goblin to be able to disengage and hide like a Rogue.

Solid recommendations thank you.
