Take GWF at 4th and swap your fighting style out for something more useful, it is boring but +1 AC is probably better. Get to 5th for sure before multiclassing (if you do). If you do multiclass join your brothers in meatshield glory and pick up barbarian too. Ancestral Guardian is legit good paired with Echo and can be super dope flavor-wise too. All kinds of echos everywhere.

I'm probably laughing.
It is apparently so hard to program Aberrant Mind and Clockwork Soul spell-swapping into dndbeyond they had to remake the game without it rather than implement it.
I would do something slightly different, take pole arm master at level 4, it is a great feat. You can use your halberd swap your fighting style to defence so your armour class doesn’t drop too much or you could use a spear or quarterstaff one handed and get duelling style for the extra damage and keep the shield. Level 5 is a must for extra attack. So at that point you make 2 regular attacks, 1 bonus action attack, and possibly an opportunity attack due to PAM or sentinel, each round. At level 6 use your ASI to increase tour strength to 18. The level 7 echo knight feature is outstanding, you would be mad to miss it, so I would stay and get that. At 8 you could get another ASI (strength to 20 or one of the crusher / piercer / slasher feats depending on your main weapon) or potentially multi class so that you would get your subclass at level 10 as the level 10 class feature is kind only so so. That said, with your stats you can only multiclass into barbarian so I wouldn’t bother. I would stay fighter.
The most important thing is to pick something you will enjoy playing and we don't know what that is.
If you are looking for effectiveness I would go with +2 strength. Its boring but it makes your attacks more relaiabe and do more damage (sentinal is useless if you miss with the op attack). And I agree change your fighting style, probably to defense but if you regularly have an ally next to you interception is another option.
The problem with Polearm Master is the Bonus Action attack competes with his Bonus Action teleport. While there is value in having this feat, this competition for your BA makes it less helpful.
Similarly, Interception is a fantastic fighting style. but, if you're next to an ally getting attacked you already have a reaction, from sentinel, to attack the enemy. Taking the Interception style means two different reactions now trigger from the same situation, and you'll have to choose between them each time. Either you should have picked sentinel, or picked interception, probably not both.
Keep close attention to this sort of thing when picking up options. try to snag options that improve what you're already doing, not ones that allow you to instead do something different. You've already got solid reaction options, and a top S tier bonus action option. Spending your style or a feat to just double up on those is a huge waste.
That's not to say options are bad. They're good, obviously. But they're not where character resources should be invested when you're so low level, when every feat or ability is a massive portion of your character's options.

GWM without a consistent source of advantage is actually pretty bad. I would go with Polearm Master too. The synergy between sentinel and the reaction attack is excellent, there's a reason this combo is seen all the time. Sure, you may have some turns where your BA is taken making an echo, but overall the synergy of PAM-Sentinel is still very much worth it.
Other than that, please just make sure you get extra attack at 5.
Hi all.
I have a (Variant) Human Echo Knight fighter who is currently level 3. I'm not sure on good ideas for the character's class progression, so thought I'd ask for some tips here.
Here are his details:
Level 3 Fighter: Echo Knight
STR 16, DEX 10, CON 16, INT 10, WIS 12, CHA 12
Skill Profs: Athletics, Insight, Investigation, Perception, Persuasion
Feats: Sentinel
Fighting Style: Superior Technique - Pushing Attack
Main Equipment: Chainmail, Halberd (primary loadout), Handaxe and Shield (secondary loadout)
---
Any advice on what I should be doing between Levels 4-10?
(The party consists of 1 lizardfolk barbarian, 1 goliath barbarian, 1 eladrin druid, 1 dragonborn bard and my human fighter).
