Hey guys! This is my first time actually typing out for help, appreciate the help in any way!
Okay, so I'm starting as a Level 1 Divine Soul Sorcerer. I want to multiclass into either a Bard or Hexblade Warlock. Im torn between going for a fully supportive roll or support and dmg roll. I'm basing the character on Merlin from FGO. Main Question - What spells should I get, what build should I be going for and how many levels should I do in each Class?
1) How does the rest of the party play; what are your strategies. What is the campaign format? Will it be more social interaction based or will you be battling hordes of evil beings. 2) Are you more interested in Metamagic, Invocations, or spell selection (Bard's Magical Secrets). This will dictate where you should invest your levels.
Those are the questions you should be considering. Like I can give you my favorites spells, but if the game format doesn't allow them be a used to their best benefits then it is all a waste.
1) The campaign has 60-40 combat to rp ratio. Dont know how the party plays cause we had only 1 session but from what Ive seen mostly dmg dealers no real support.
2) Im gonna put most my lvs on Sorcerer. Just torn between what multi class not really interested in the Bard's Magical Secrets
So other than healing, what is it that interested you about playing a Bard? Under 5E rules your Sorcerer class will require your BA for converting between Spells Slots and Sorcery Points; plus if you plan to take up Quicken Spell, then you might not not have enough opportunity to deal out Bardic Inspiration. You can still pull it off but just wanted to layout there are several BA that your character might have here. Unless you have some ideas or desires spells in mind that the Bard offers, I think the Warlock will give you more versatility.
Is the party melee based or is there a good split with the range attacks as well? Form a Cantrip stand point consider Chill Touch (my favorite); Frostbite; Mind Sliver (if there are party members who can force saving throws)
1st level: Consider taking Sleep. It helps knock down the your opponent count and doesn't require concentration. Probably worth dropping at a higher level, but for levels 1-4 it can help sway the numbers in favor of the party.
Starting at 2nd level: Darkness; Maximillian's Earthen Grasp; Web (really good if you have range based attackers). Depending on the environment, Spider Climb can have some practicality. But I highly recommend "Tasha's Mind Whip" it can save you or a party member their reaction and if the party gets distance from the Monster then it loses its action if it moves closer to the party.
Are you doing a dungeon crawl or are you going to have more social interactions? Suggestion or Detect Thoughts are fun spells, but as a Sorcerer, I don't want to burn a spell at the lower levels if won't be used. Also, what is the Metamagic options you are considering; this will impact the choices of spells as you grow to high levels.
Here's my thoughts on the matter... if you take a single level dip into Warlock for Hexblade, you get Medium Armor, shields, Weapon proficiency, and the ability to attack using CHA. You also get Hexblade's Curse, along with a single first level spell slot, both of which come back on a short rest. You also get two more cantrips, which can include Eldritch Blast which, even without getting any of the Eldritch Invocations that boost the spell, is still the most reliable attack cantrip in the game.
A single level dip into bard, however, just gives you Bardic Inspiration (that doesn't come back on a short rest unless you invest 5 levels into Bard), and doesn't count against your spell slot progression. Normally the best thing that you would get from Bard is the ability to learn some healing spells, but as a Divine Soul Sorcerer you aren't hurting for choice in valuable first level spells.
So while I think Bard could add more versatility if you plan to invest a solid number of levels into the class for multiclassing, Warlock pays off a lot more a lot earlier.

To expand on this a little, a high investment multi-class is generally not a good experience in a running game; you’ll typically spend a lot more time feeling ineffective as you accumulate the bits and pieces than you will actually playing the final result. My rule of thumb is to wait until you’ve got at least five levels in your main class before dipping and to only dip one or two levels. Bard honestly isn’t a great dip, since there’s very little you get from them in early levels that isn’t covered by a feat instead. Warlock is a better pick for early features, although it’s not really worth a high investment on a full caster because it doesn’t synergize with spell slot progression, which is the most important thing on a full caster.
Divine soul sorcs are great; I'm running one (not multi) now as level 3. I did create a multi once of lev once paladin (fighter works too) then multi to sorc at next level and stay as sorc (was for a one-shot). This way you start with a little more HP, better armor, shield, etc. It changes your saving throws though.
