Okay let me give a bit of info first on the character, He is a Tiefling who reincarnates when he dies as a curse upon a victim. He basically dies then an infant is cursed turning ghostly pale, eyes turn crimson, they grow one horn, a tail, and wings. He doesn't retain direct memories they are different versions of him built into the soul so he may feel very melancholy or filled with rage and not understand where it comes from since he doesn't even know he is being reincarnated with feelings from past lives. (male or female doesn't matter it's the features that mark the curse)
Then I want his personality to be build to be a good person who struggles with his inner turmoil, I want him to be sarcastic as shit but a good guy who would sneak money into a homeless persons pocket so people don't see him do it. The plan is to be born into a noble family and at birth the curse was delayed with a seal from a cleric so it progresses slowly so he has pale skin, pale hair, fangs, ears, and crimson cornea with silver iris but still has to grow the horn, tail, and wings and is outcasted by his family then joins a circus later down the road.
This is the rough draft, now I am not sure what class I want or that would fit I want to use either guns, illusions, blood, or shadow magic but I can't think of what it would be. I do want a darker source to his curse or maybe he might be the chosen champion of some of the gods that has failed countless times. still figuring things out but any advice on what I should do with the class? I am replacing the spells for tiefling with wings btw and willing to go feral or not depending on class build. Not looking for min max but rp and fun so don't worry about number crunching lol. Also never multi classed before so if you recommend it please give detail on it not sure what to do about it.
P.S. going to be an npc in my story then I will be using him in a friends campaign kinda got attached to this character using multiple influences from different sources that gave me ideas.
Well the curse kinda made me instantly think of a Warlock. An arcane trickster could work as well, or an Eldritch knight.
I would definitely go towards Warlock or Sorcerer though, something that just have spontaneous power coming from a loosely known "somewhere".
But I feel like you could justify pretty much any class though - even a barbarian could have his rage rethemed to be about the curse, where you lose control a bit and let that dark power put a hand on the wheel.
I would point out one thing though, your concept is super cool, but it also means that you can't be resurrected, since you would immediately reincarnate in a new kid as you die. You could probably see with your DM, at least about Revivify, so you have a little bit more time to explore your background and figure out the origin of the curse your dm prepared for you.
I think the solution to the resurrection problem is to add a delay between the death of one reincarnation and the transformation of another. Maybe when one incarnation dies, somewhere in the world a child is born with a birthmark indicating they're the next chosen vessel. If the dead incarnation is not resurrected by the child's first birthday, that child becomes the new incarnation and the transformation begins. The character who would be part of the game was born with the birthmark, but someone recognized what it means and was able to ward the child so that the transformation was delayed. As for what class archetype the character would be, I can see a couple of possibilities. Making them a Tiefling definitely suggests Fiend Warlock as a possibility. Perhaps a very long time ago there was someone who promised his own eternal soul in servitude to a high-ranking devil. That person then tried to escape the deal, and the devil cursed him to be reborn again and again to serve him, without even knowing why. Each new incarnation grows into his power, never completely sure where it comes from, with the devil biding his time until they become strong enough, at which point the devil calls him to service. Some submit willingly, some are subjugated, some resist. Another option would be a Divine Soul Sorcerer. This soul is destined to play a significant part in the great struggle between good & evil, and keeps reincarnating so they will be present when their destiny calls. But no one truly knows which side this Chosen One will eventually come down on, so when it seems like their nature for good or evil manifests, the other side tries to kill them, hoping that the next incarnation will favor them instead.
Definitely a lot of RP and storytelling potential with something like this, you'll just want to make sure you have answers for those questions that might make it difficult to turn the concept into a playable character.
I love the diviner style i was thinking of the same direction but was struggling with figuring out how to do it without screwing it up thanks for the idea for a sorc diviner!!!
making it into a playable character isn't an issue and if anything makes him fit into almost any campaign setting perfect good or evil. Also it fits within almost any campaign kind of like neither good nor evil but the keeper of the balance since one can't exist without the other. Also would be possible to be the soul of a god reincarnated lacking the full power and memories but keeping the duty.
Was looking around and realized sorcs really get the crap end of the deal... seems like rp will be harder for me due to how much it seems you have to min max with them to be effective with such a spell issue as a magic user... any advice on the spell issues? (spell options, spells known, spell slots)
The Idea of a an albino tiefling who gains angelic wings is a great representation of this character too

Ok so going off this I'm just going to spin something up, change whatever details you want:
The Eagleshields of Waterdeep were overjoyed when the Lady of the house conceived, because she had been having trouble doing so, so when the child was born deformed, she was horrified. They even had a priest of Lathander perform an exorcism on the infant, thinking it might rid her of her demonic deformities, but the fangs and eerie eyes remained. The priest, fearing the family would kill the child, threatened to expose them to the rest of Waterdeep if they did any such thing, so instead Sabina was cloistered away, and hidden in their manor house, while they told everyone that they had lost the baby.
Growing up, Sabina had access to the library of one of the richest noble houses in one of the most magnificent cities in Faerun, but she never got to see any of the things she read in her dramas and stories. Her only friend was an elderly priest who would visit her and teach her reading, writing, and history. He tried his best, but he never could quite understand her, especially when she started insisting on being called 'he' and 'Sebastian.'
As he neared the end of his life, the priest of Lathander tried in vain to convince the family to accept their child, and he met with an 'accident' one day after speaking with Lady Eagleshield. The moment that old priest fell to his death down a long stairway, Sebastian felt something stirring within him. The protections placed upon him by the priest fell and his demonic heritage bloomed from his shoulders into broad, batlike wings. Sebastian's father, coming to finally erase the stain upon their family name, was not expecting him to escape through a window and fly off into the night.
After a dark time spent skulking around at night to avoid notice, Sebastian was adopted by a traveling circus who realized how pitiful and despairing he really was. They could see him for the child he was and not the freak he looked like. He found a role in their troupe playing various demons and devils in their stage plays, all the while he burned with the desire to return to Waterdeep and expose his family for the bigots and hypocrites they were.
I would recommend he be a Bard, College of Satire if your DM allows Unearthed Arcana, College of Lore if not.
This is great material thanks will have to replace some stuff and then add more to make it like 1-3 pages long since I want this character to be one I can reuse often enough without bullshit excuses lol. The college of satire looks cool, but out of curiosity what else would you suggest as options because the college of satire looks to be unfitting of a keeper of balance is the thing and fits more in line of a trickster god or something.

I'm glad you liked it! There's plenty of angst to be mined from such a character.

Yeah I want a bit of angst but not too much that it becomes an edgy meme ya know what I mean? I want dark but not doom and gloom I guess is how I would put it so I plan to mix a bit of light into that darkness lol.
If sorc didn't have such a bad rep that it has I would have gone divine soul but a lack of options and being forced to min/max is not my thing lol (btw melee I feel monks and rogues have good options for me that feel nice)
Question do you know how swashbucklers or monks work with flight? just kinda curious how that would work out due to being kinda foot work classes. I was looking at magic more due to this fact and wizard doesn't feel natural enough. I was thinking between Warlock celestial or a Profaned blood hunter but not sure how that would work out going mainly a caster with that stuff. Also not sure how a main caster blood hunter would be while warlock... I dread trying to set up a subclass in the creator on this site for a warlock is the problem... I own the books but I don't have them digitally on this site... Me and my group are using this site quite often though atm for making characters due to how nice and easy it is compared to the headache it normally can be.

Both the Fancy Footwork feature from Swashbucklers and the extra movement from a monk should work with flight. Of the two, Swashbucklers multiclass pretty well with Bard, I should know I'm playing a Swords Bard/Swashbuckler Rogue and i'm loving it.

Ask the DM if they're OK with using the spell point variant in the DMG instead of spell slots. It makes more sense for a sorcerer and lets you be WAY more flexible with your casting. Then make sure you grab chaos bolt as one of your spells.

Just to be clear, this character is born into a noble Tiefling family? Or are they born as something else and turn into a Tiefling?

something else then turn tiefling, like a human or something noble family depending on what the infant was.
