So, I wanted to make Connor McGregor as a D&D character. I plan on using v.human and making him a monk, but he's also quite the showman, so I thought maybe Monk/Bard. Any suggestions?
Being a showman doen't mean you are necessarily a bard. Bards ar eknown for their ability to inspire others with their music and perform magic based on it. While a couple of bard spells might suit him (Heroism comes ot mind) I think you are better off with a monk with reasonably high Charisma and preoficiency in perfomance, the Gladiator background would fit him well.
Investing a lot in Charisma will make you character less powerful as you take scores away from the most important stats of Dex, Wis and Con but that may or may not be a concern to you
I would think you are best off going straight monk, probably open hand. Thematically barbarian would make a suitable multiclass but a barnb need high Strength (as well as Dex and Con) while a monk needs high wisdom and if you want a charismatic character you then need 5 decent stats which isn't going to happen.
Another option if you didn't want to go high CHA, is go
Monk with Magic initiate Bard - True Strike, Vicious Mockery and Sleep (This could be seen as a knock out punch)
or
Monk with 1 level in Hexbalde Warlock - Hex for bigger hits and Shield spell (looks like even the most sure hit misses) neither spell would require CHA.
Damn, I must be bored and been thinking about this for hours haha.
How's this, for a non-martial Melee fighter Level 8 build
Bard 1/Warlock 1/Blue Draconic Sorcerer 6+
First round is Hex Spell + Vicious Mockery Trash talk (2d4+1d6 before you even touching them and they get disadvantage next attack)
Defend against disadvantaged attack with draconic skin ac13+DEX+shield spell
2nd round, Quickened Vicious Mockery (another 2d4+1d6 dam and disadvantage next round) and punch a shocking Grasp (2d8+1d6+CHA dam) advantage if wearing metal armor and they lose reaction if you want to step back. Repeat until run out of Sorcery points.
and when you think they are hurt enough do a level 3 sleep spell knock out punch (If they have less than 9d8 HP, they are knocked out)
This is sad to me because bard is my go to class, it’s just a shame all my previous groups disbanded literally before 5th level that I never got to know this xD

All cantrips get double the damage when you reach level 5 (character level), (technically Eldritch blast gives you a second beam with a seperate attack roll but on average you get double the damage)
The big thing with vicious mockery is the target has disadvantage on it's next attack roll this makes it just as useful as a pure damage cantrip which might do 1d10 damage.

Thanks! All good points. I think you're right. Maybe I could use Actor as my bonus feat to fit the theme?

Barbarian or fighter with unarmed fighting style if UA is allowed.

I might be missing something but [/spell]vicious mockery[spell] only does 1d4 damage. Is there something else adding the other 1d4?
^darn can’t remember how to include spells in posts either anymore :/
It's a Cantrip that gets scaled up as you go up in levels
This spell's damage increases by 1d4 when you reach 5th level (2d4), 11th level (3d4), and 17th level (4d4).

Wow, I didn’t even realize all cantrip damage scales with levels (I knew some of them did such as classic eldritch blast).
and I called myself a d&d player xD
