Just get a great ax. Normally you get disadvantage (from being a small race wielding a heavy weapon), but pack tactics gives you advantage, so they cancel themselves out. I mean, a one foot tall dude wielding a 6-foot tall ax NORMALLY. Plus rage counteracts a negative damage bonus. Even though it's still a lot weaker than normal barbarian, you won the flavor game.
The rule of being a kobold barbarian is that if your rage ends prematurely you are required by the Barbarian Association of Kobold Adventurers to immediately use your "grove, cower, and beg" ability - what a rollercoaster of emotions!

It's a good thing that disadvantages and advantages don't stack, cause that would absolutely suck if you were fighting in sunlight.
