Thanks in advance, well appreciated. I have a halfling Lore bard who is about to achieve 4th level. So the big decision, to feat or ability increase. This one is a little tougher. If I take the ability my Dex goes to 16 and Charisma to 18. So I get increase AC, dex saves ect, and higher save for my spells. Or I can just take a feat that increases Charisma and gain omething extra, such as Fey Touch (charisma) get misty step, an extra spell and poin t in Cha. or Shadow Touch get invisibility an extra spell and Cha. point.
The question is, is going from 15 Dex to 16 dex worth basically 2 extra spells, that a bard needs desperately any way.
Keep in mind I am not much of a melee guy. In fact I use a whip even though I am not proficient. I just like the flavor and feel. lol
If you are in light armour then your armour class goes up by 1, your initiative goes up by one, as does your Dex saving throw and all Dex based saves. I guess only you can decide how important that is to your character. I was faced with that dilemma myself on one character and went for Fey touched with Gift of Alacrity. I think it was the right choice for me, and don't regret it.
I'd recommend taking the ASI. If you get the option to round out two of your most important stats, then I think you'll get more use out of it than a couple spells you could learn on your own.

Yeah, I don't think either is a wrong choice here. Gaining Misty Step as a Bard is huge, plus another 1st level spell of your choice - and (functionally) the 2 extra spell slots that accompany them. This and rounding out Cha on top is great.
But then if he can get Cha 18 *and* Dex to 16, that's really nice. It also improves the Dissonant Whispers + Opportunity Attack trick.
I'd say if you did not plan to have a specific feat in mind for your character when you started it, you will probably be happier rounding out two stats. Some builds really are focused on feats, but if your's isn't, you will get a lot more bang for the buck with the ASI.

Take the Bountiful Luck feat, so you can share your "reroll natural 1s" with the rest of your party :-)
Your party will love you for it!
