As the title suggests, I think that OneD&D's class group feats and level prerequisites on some of them are a great way to balance martials in OneD&D.
Optional Complexity:
Due to the "choose your own nature" of feats, adding some complex feat options to martials gives them a bit more crunch that some people want, whilist being good for simple players as they can take the more simplistic feats. Maybe a (simple), (intermediate), and (complex) tag system could be added to them to help out people choose what they want. As for balancing I think it'll be easier for the simpler feats to not lag behind the complex ones in power unlike subclasses where the more complex, the typically stronger they are.
Exponential Scaling: With leveled feats in play, with specific class prerequisites, we could give martials some strong, and not abusable via multiclassing , unique, abilities at higher levels to rival the exponential power of casters, and a good way to add some utility. 1st-4th level feats stay mostly the same, but the higher level ones are like the martial equivalent of casters getting new levels of spells. I think warriors getting "6th level feats" like fighter would be good, giving an equivalent to the crazy power boost 5th level gives to casters. (Extra attack doesn't even compare. It's just "you get nearly... but not equal damage to casters")
Edit: Because Rogues aren't a "warrior class" maybe give them the ability at 4th level to take warrior feats. That's not broken at all
Yeah I think this is really something to look out for in the upcoming Warrior UA. There are possibly going to be a lot of benefits that aren't immediately apparent. But by making leveled feats so integral now, and the promised weapon changes, we could see some big improvements for martials.

I agree with basically everything you said. I will say though, that there should be complex feats available at lower levels. Those feats could just be a bit less strong than the higher level complex feats, but that doesn't mean making them in a balanced way for low levels is undoable. I've actually said something kinda similar about optional complexity before, but later got called a "lying liar" for that because apparently, I was saying things I didn't believe.

Oh yep! Of course there should be lower level complex feats! I'd love to see Superior Technique in OneD&D as a fighting style (however much stronger. It suuuuuucks as of currently. I still take it over the boring numerical increases despite that) and martial adept (again, much stronger than it currently is). Utility feats would be good as well as well as a feat for AOE strikes, size of AOE increasing as you level.
I'd rather there just be scaling features built into the class rather than forcing classes to take specific feats to be viable.
I'd vote making a mechanic similar to the battle master's pool of maneuvers part of all warrior classes. They can make sure there is variety that works outside of combat, and the strength and number of uses increase at higher levels.

I don’t want them to be “specific feats to be viable” but I would like them to give more variety to what a warrior can be. With scaling features built into the class they could end up being too same-y. But they would have to be balanced to each other. So not 5E GWM vs you get advantage on CHA checks if it’s cloudy outside.
While I'm looking forward to new leveled feats overall, I do have one concern that this touches on. I don't want it to turn into 3.5/pathfinder. I'm worried that having feats follow a progression of prerequisites could lead to only one optimal way to build a character. Effectively locking people into pre-set paths. It stops becoming an option at that point, other than the first step of the path. Do you want to be a good archer? Well, pick this feat at level 4 and everything after that is planned out for you. It might as well be a scaling class or subclass feature at that point.

BoringBard's long and tedious posts somehow manage to enrapture audiences. How? Because he used Charm Person, the #1 bard spell!
He/him pronouns. Call me Bard. PROUD NERD!
