The snarky answer is: The one you have fun playing. But otherwise, your going to have to give a lot more details here if you want advice beyond “max out your cha.” Mainly, what do you want to be able to do?
You could lean into all the fun little quirky aspects of being a gnome and take likewise invocations and spells: mask of many faces and pact of the chain spring to mind for me. Mask of many faces hardly needs to be explained and is good for anything really and if you were to just do PHB subraces pact of the chain makes a really compelling point for both of them (little forest friend for forest, and little robot(re-skinned familiar, ask DM, for rock gnome). Patron is a challenging issue because unless you pick something like shadar-kai or teifling, there is no clear cut thematic choice. Your patron does not necessarily have to be a thematic part of your character however, archfey features do lie quite close to gnome attributes. Really as Xalthu said, it really is up to you and there is definitely a lot you could do or the community could even but we would need more context like campaign or role you might want to fill.

Imagine a sorcerer riding a catoblepas into an epic battle to the last minute of black-heart by two steps from hell.
I know that this has been said before, so I'll just say it now. If you take Repelling Blast, and run right under someone (Which you should be able to get below them, considering Gnomes are barely more than 3 ft tall), you can hit them with Eldritch Blast, and hit them up into the air. If you were at 5th level,a ND both beams hit doing this, you would deal 2d10 Force damage, plus 2d6 bludgeoning damage, for a total of 17 damage in one turn, and knocking them prone. You can add to this with Agonizing Blast, and this can get pretty insane at higher levels. It's a really strong combo at any point in the game, and it's really fun as well.

I’m not going to threadjack, just suffice to say this requires multiple very liberal interpretations of RAW, so check with your DM before you try to pull this off.
Range damage dealer/support, maybe a little mischief. Originally thought old one warlock with pack of tome with rock gnome, but I know others on beyond would have better ideas
What would be the best gnome warlock build?

If you want mischief, archfey patronwould be a particularly good choice considering their kit is centered around illusions and tricking enemy's.
I wonder how plummeting hundreds of feet feels
