So basically I had an idea for a non hexblade melee build(using 2014 rules) that might not even take potb(but realistically will for thirsting blade eldritch smite and lfedrinker
The basic idea is to play as a dual wielding draconic sorcerer 3/fiend warlock 17
so i take sorcerer to lvl 3 for some metamagic options which will be boosted with metamagic adept for 5SP and 4 metamagic options. Draconic sorcerer gives m +3 hp which isn’t a lot but every little helps and more importantly gives permanent mage armour that we use with max dex for 18-23 AC with shield. Then fiend lock for the temporary Hitpoints on a kill (Ik ts a bit difficult to do but your party should try to help you) and all the other goodies. If you take potb then key invocations are thirsting blade eldritch smite(you have some spare 1st and 2nd level sorcerer spell slots use them for this and shield) and lifedrinker. Using point buy vhuman i can get this at level 1
str8,dex 16(14+2),con14,int8,wis12,cha16(15+1)
Feat:Here there are so many good options but personally I like taking Fey touched. At first level this is particularly broken as a second level spell (even just a teleport) and two free casts are great. Tough, warcaster, resilient con, dual wielder, and the one that gives you a fighting style are also all valid choices
Build one
Start as warlock (fiend patron) Spells:Armor of Agathys and Hex. Hex at the level does crazy damage dual wielding (up to 4d6+3!!)
Take warlock to level 4 and select potb or another if you want. Make sure to grab a ASI here to buff dex to 18 then take Draconic sorcerer then take warlock to level 9. After this anything is valid really as long as you finish 17 lock 3sorc but I like taking sorcerer to three. All metamagic options are fine but quickened and twined ar always great
build option 2
start fighter dual wielder fighting style then warlock to 5 then sorcerer 1 then take sorcerer and warlock levels in any way. Note with this build only take sorcerer and warlock to two and rely on metamagic adept for the metamagic options.
Thank you to anyone who reads this i would like some feedback but until then happy adventuring

How does a sorcerer give you "...and more importantly gives permanent mage armour "? The draconic sorcerer work OK with low levels, but once you get higher, then you can get decent light armor and the boost from draconic sorcerer is now a hinderance. Neither draconic sorcerer nor warlock give you a shield attribute and the best way to get it is to either waste a feat on light armor/shield or dip to a melee class. Neither is a good idea, as dipping a 2xclass PC is worse with a 3rd class to suck up levels.
You are better off getting decent armor and some invisibly buff as well as gaze of two minds so the familiar is the origin of your spells. You can put a wall/room/etc. between your familiar and you (max range 60 feet) so you can be in the back row. and not even approachable.
Then fiend lock for the temporary Hitpoints? Why not just use the invocation for temp hitpoints, you automatically max out so it is always a +12 temp points, add in Armor of Agathys and that adds 5 more. No need to be a fiend.
I am so glad I don't have an 11 year old book. Reading this makes me glad I can use the 2024 warlock.
The permanent magearmour as I called it is Draconic sorcerers 13+dex mod ac Your point about false life invocation and AoA is incorrect as temp Hitpoints don’t stack and in 2014vfalse life is good low levels and bad high levels and fiend gains temporary Hitpoints when it kills something. I also prefer to help my party and interact with my dms storyline rather than shove a familiar in the room next door and cakewalk the encounter. Thank you for your opinions they will be useful when I play and I’m sorry if any of my points sound aggressive
