You can do that, but you’ll be using almost all of your eldritch invocations for melee combat. Plus you’ll be limited to light armor, which means Mage Armor will be the best AC that you can get without taking a feat or dual classing. Using a spear you’re going to want a high charisma, a high strength, and a high dexterity. I love warlocks, but I’d suggest playing a different class to make your concept work the way it is.
You can make your concept work by tweaking it slightly though. Give up the spear and polearm master feat and wield 2 daggers because you can use your dexterity to attack with the dagger instead of your strength. Take the Defensive Duelist and Dual Wielder feats, take Pact of the Blade, focus on Charisma and Dexterity, take the Armor of Shadows and Improved Pact Weapon invocations at 3rd level, and take the Thirsting Blade invocation at 5th level. You actually get 2 invocations at 2nd level, but you can swap one invocation out every time you go up a level and you’ll want to do that! At 7th level take the Eldritch Smite invocation.
For spells, I would suggest Eldritch Blast, even though you won’t use it very often, and any other cantrip that looks fun to you. Armor of Agathys, Hellish Rebuke, and Hex are all great 1st level spells for you. Shadow Blade is a must have 2nd level spell and Mirror Image will save your life several times too!
Take Pact of the blade at level 3. Then the two invocations I highly suggest at level 5 is thirsting blade and eldritch smite. When you get higher level life drinker will add good consistent damage. Other than that pick invocations that work well for you.
There's no reason why you couldn't. If I ever have to play a melee character again, it would be a hexblade warlock. I whipped up an example real fast, to give you an idea of what one might look like. I personally would not go this route, I had to dump int and wis to make the bonus action attack less craptastic. imo, dumping the bonus action attack so you can dump str completely is better, possibly backed up with the melee cantrips booming blade and greenflame blade. I'll also post a link to the hexblade that I made for myself should I choose to play one. You should be able to afford scale quickly to help with the AC
For mine, I'd use the mace until I can get a longsword and scale will replace the leather ASAP. At 4, I'd take flames of phlegethos so that my greenflame blade enables a damage shield on me when I take hits.
Any time an unfathomably powerful entity sweeps in and offers godlike rewards in return for just a few teensy favors, it’s a scam. Unless it’s me. I’d never lie to you, reader dearest.
I want to make a spell casting melee frontline and I hope if I can make my warlock into one.
I am hoping to be using sentinel and polearm master feats.
However, I am not too sure if it can work or not.
(Also my level 1 warlock's patron is Great Old One)

Thank you so much!
Shadow Blade at level 2 is key. Skin it as a spear since it’s stats are specific and pretend away.
Good idea!
