I figured out that you can make a warlock build almost entirely focused on sight.
Pick Drow as a race-- Charisma and 120 ft darkvision, and extra edginess for your warlock, but the 120 ft darkvision is what really matters. When you get 2 invocations at 2nd level, pick Devil's Sight and Eyes of the Rune Keeper. As your Pact Boon, choose Pact of the Chain, because you can see through your familiar-- choose a Pseudodragon because they have blindsight and Keen Senses. For your 5th-level invocation, pick Eldritch Sight. As your 7th-level invocation, pick Ghostly Gaze-- this is one of your best sight-related invocations. At 9th level and 12th level, pick Gaze of Two Minds and Misty Visions in whatever order. 15th level, at which point you should take Witch Sight (which is tied with Ghostly Gaze for best and most thematic) and replace one of your non-sight invocations with Visions of Distant Realms. Then, at 18th level, take Shroud of Shadow, to be able to turn invisible at will.
Patron-wise, I still haven't found a pact with sight things, but I'd suggest Great Old One because All-Seeing Eye sounds Great-Old-One-ish.
For spells, basically take anything sight-related (e.g. darkvision (for your team members who aren't as lucky as you sight-wise), invisibility, scrying, etc.)
Devil's Sight would still be a valuable choice, even for Drow. Their Darkvision is good, but it doesn't allow them to see through magical darkness the way Devil's Sight does.
Also, Gaze of Two Minds might fit into this theme, although in many cases it will be redundant with seeing through the eyes of your familiar. On the other hand, being able to see through the eyes of any humanoid opens up lots of possibilities.
Also, if your DM is following the rules for dim light and darkness Devil’s Sight is a huge upgrade to a Drow’s Darkvision. Seeing normally in complete or magical darkness is much more powerful than seeing in complete darkness as if you’re in dim light.

I went half way into this as well making my warlock a human scout. Devi's sight lets him be a human with better than night vision which surprises elf NPCs who generally feel superior in such roles. Eldritch sight lets a scout constantly be aware for magic traps. I didn't go pact of the chain, I thought about it for the reasons you mentioned but decided I wanted to be in the one scouting not send in a scout, so I went pact of the tome instead. By yes, I really like the visual options with Warlock. I also took The Old One Patron because the telepathy might be considered the "minds eye" and being able to whisper 30ft without making noise is nice ability for a scout. Also, The Old One patron is the only one where your patron might make a pact with you by accident so its the most neutral patron despite its dark cathulu over tones.

The lack of inflection in text means that a reader of any post adds their own inflection as they "verbalize" it in their head. I write long and repetitive in an effort to be clear and avoid my intent from being skewed or inverted. I am also bad at examples. It is common for people to skim my posts pull out the idea they think I mean or want to argue against or focus on my bad example instead of the point I am actually trying to make. I apologies for the confusion my failure to be clear and concise creates.
Huh, I'm glad I'm not the only one who spotted all these vision invocations. I built my guy on a slightly shifted focus of light manipulation.
We start with a Halfling, Warlock with a Celestial Patron. I pick up Sacred Flame, Light, and then Word of Radiance using the Book of Secrets Pact Boon.
For spells, I'm taking things like Daylight, Hunger of Hadar, Darkness, Guiding Bolt, in addition to Cure Wounds and Lesser Restoration (this is a support Warlock, after all.)
It's great to see I'm not the first person to have this idea! Just a query though, if you have Voice of the Chain Master wouldn't you not need Arcane Eye/Visions of Distant Realms? Esp. with a Sprite familiar, not very thematic for GOO but with Tiny size and invisibility it essentially comes to the same thing? Or am I missing something?
I also don't know what invocation you'd take instead but I thought it was interesting
