So this really is just a matter of curiosity, but I‘ve always wanted to play as Irenicus from shadows of Amn in 5e (minus the having no emotion). My slight problem in this theoretical idea is that I have literally no clue. All I have to work with is his wiki page of Fandom. Ideas?
P.S. (Deep voice). You must gather your party before venturing forth.
Go High Elf, using starndard array to get Str 13, Dex 16, Cons 12, Int 16, Wis 10, Cha 8 (he is described as being a very buff individual for an elf, his in game stats were spectacularly high: STR 13, DEX 18, CON 14, INT 18, WIS 18, CHA 17, hp 96), Background; Noble or maybe haunted one as he is supposed to have had a falling out with the Elven pantheon. Alignment some form of evil because he likes to torture and experiemtn on people but he is NE in the game.
Type of wizard is a bit of a difficult one, I'd be tempted to go for War Wizard given the overpowered spells he has in the game and it has a bit more versatility than Evocation but Transmutation may work for his experimentation side of things.
Skills: Arcana, Religion, Insight and maybe try for Intimidation.
Feats: if you are going for the game stats then it'll be ASI all the way but I think you'd still come up short, I think Alert might be a good one asap as in game he does tend to see ambushes before they happen.
Equipment..no weapons just spells, aim for magic items to give bonus spells such as pearls of power, rings of spell storing and staffs/wands of (insert spell name) and maybe soeme Elven Chain armour.
Spells big ang flashy growing into instant kill ....Chromatic Orbs, Fire ball and/or Lighning Bolt, Power Words and Disintergrates and Finger of Death.....mix in some teleportations spells and Mage Armour/Shield/Absorb Elements for defence, I don't think I'd go for many requiring concentration.

Love the idea (and the quote)....

This is just the stuff I was looking for. Thank you. (If I’m lucky, I’ll use this build in Baldur’s gate 3 if War Magic is an option.)
(You have been waylaid by enemies and must defend yourself)
