I was wondering if any necromancers have found a useful item or spell or tattoo or something to combat turn undead?
So in a campaign I play in we have month/years of down time. I am a warlock with the finger of death spell. We just hit lvl 20 and are in charge (faculty) of a wizards school.
My plan is to use finger of death to make a crew of skeleton (DM approved) as loyal pirates. Then sail the seas as a pirate captain, my plan is to name my ship the Living Scrimshaw. I might have a higher intelligence undead as my first mate though, maybe a ghost.
Blocking Turn Undead is difficult without dipping into other classes or using monster abilities. Anything that offers resistance to "magical effects" or gives bonuses to saving throws will help. However, the most straightforward workaround is to note that that Turn Undead breaks the moment that the target takes any damage. Either using a low damage AOE, or instructing your minions to punch any ally who starts running should do the trick.
You can also exploit the "see or hear" part of Turn Undead. Using Darkness/Silence to stifle the divine effect.
I might look into that. My current plan is to have spare "crewmates" in a bag of holding or a portable hole. So if some do get destroyed i can just bring out more. Now i wonder if it's "evil" to turn others into crew members. If my crew consists of evil creatures that were killed in the name of good?

i mean it's hard to complain if you are dead, as long as did not have any specific wishes for what to be done with their corpse i see no foul in using it for your own ends

i am soup, with too many ideas (all of them very spicy) who has made sufficient homebrew material and character to last an thousand human lifetimes
If you're already playing at that level is your DM against using Epic Boons? If not try to homebrew together with them, one that gives your Undead turn protection in a x feet radius around you.
