Weapon (rapier), rare

This weapon appears as a silver-stringed lute with a hilt carved into its base and runes etched along the frets. As a bonus action, the lute shifts into a floating Dancing Blade of your choice — rapier, longsword, scimitar, etc., echoing Krul's arsenal. While in weapon form, it still hums with soft bardic tones.

✨ Weapon Stats (choose form on summon):

Form Properties Damage Notes
Rapier Finesse, Vex 1d8 Piercing Adds Vex tag
Longsword Versatile (1d10), Sap 1d8 Slashing Adds Sap tag
Scimitar Finesse, Light, Nick 1d6 Slashing Adds Nick tag
Shortsword Finesse, Light, Vex 1d6 Piercing Adds Vex tag
Greatsword Heavy, Two-Handed, Graze 2d6 Slashing Adds Graze tag

Bardic Instrument (in lute form):

  • Functions as a +1 Instrument of the Bards

  • When used to cast bard spells with verbal components, the spell DC increases by +1

  • While performing, you can control your Dancing Blade as part of your Performance (see below)

🎵 Special Features:

🎶 Bladewaltz Performance

When using the Performance skill with the Maestro's Bladewaltz (as an instrument or in combat), you may command the blade to move in rhythm:

  • Performance DC 15: The blade spins in harmony. Gain +1 AC and +1 on Dexterity (Performance) checks until the start of your next turn.

  • Performance DC 20: In addition to above, the blade lashes out once (1d8 force damage, no action required).

  • Performance DC 25: All of the above. Also, all allies within 10 ft. gain Advantage on Charisma checks until your next turn.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier per long rest.

⚔️ Musical Flourish (1/Turn)

When you hit a creature with a weapon attack using the Bladewaltz, you may expend a Bardic Inspiration die to trigger a flourish:

  • Dirge Slice: Target must succeed a CON save (DC = 8 + Prof + CHA) or be Slowed (as per slow spell, 1 target only) until end of its next turn.

  • Arpeggio Cut: The attack deals an additional 2d6 psychic damage and emits dissonant tones—target cannot take reactions until start of its next turn.

  • Cadence Clash: The blade rings like a bell; enemies within 5 ft. must make a WIS save (DC = 8 + Prof + CHA) or be Distracted (disadvantage on next attack roll).

🌀 Dancing Blade (Bonus Action Command)

Once per turn, as a bonus action, you can command the Bladewaltz to attack independently (as per Dancing Weapon rules, DMG p. 161).

  • Attack Bonus: Uses your Spell Attack Modifier

  • Damage: Based on chosen form

  • Duration: 4 rounds

  • Can hover and return to instrument form when dismissed.

🎭 RP Flavor:

The Bladewaltz harmonizes with Krul’s voice and movements, glowing softly in rhythm. Each combat turn becomes a performance. Enemies see flashes of stage lights and hear haunting or thrilling melodies, as if combat and concert are one.

Proficiency with a Rapier allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.

This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.

Vex. If you hit a creature with this weapon and deal damage to the creature, you have Advantage on your next attack roll against that creature before the end of your next turn.

Notes: Finesse, Vex
