A Crossblade is a weapon that looks like a chakram with 4 blades sticking out of it in a cross formation. Although it can be used for melee combat the weapons primary purpose is as a thrown weapon. The size and rotation of the blades is meant to cut straight through most things. The only problem is that with it being nearly 2 ft in size for the tip of one blade to tip of the opposite blade it can be difficult to carry a lot of them as you would do with other throwing weapons.
Zephyr Crossblade Information
The Zephyr Crossblade is a crossblade that is enchanted with an elemental wind. When the crossblade is thrown the a zephyr appears underneath the blade keeping it aloft after hitting its target. The blade can hit up to five targets before returning to your hand. It can not choose the same creature twice in a row. The blade must first hit another creature or object (walls, pillars, trees, or any other form of solid object) before hitting the same target. You make a separate attack and damage roll for each time the blade bounces (you also make an attack roll if it hits an object). When attacking a creature, on an attack roll if you are to roll a natural one then the blade is stopped and falls to the ground at the feet of said creature. If you roll a natural twenty the blade picks up momentum and gains and extra bounce before returning to your hand. When attacking an object, when you roll a natural one or two the blade is stopped and either falls to the ground or gets stuck in said object. When you roll a natural nineteen or twenty you blade picks up momentum and gains another bounce. When the blade has finished hitting all its targets or if you will it to early the crossblade will return to your hand. As long as the crossblade is attuned to you it will return to you when thrown as long as you are within 100 ft of the blade.
Clarification
You can only hit the same creature three times unless you gain two extra bounces.
While in melee range you typically suffer a penalty for using a ranged attack. However, you only suffer this penalty on the first attack. After the first bounce the blade has ample room to move and the attacker no longer affects the attack.
If an creature picks up the dropped crossblade and throws it at the attuned user then it simply slows on approach and returns the the attuned users hand. If an creature picks up the dropped crossblade and throws it at another creature it will hit said creature and then return to the attuned users hand as long as they are within 100 ft.
In the case that the targeted creature has missile snaring (ex. gloves of missile snaring or monks deflect missiles) if the damage is reduced to zero then the creature catches the crossblade and it loses all remaining bounces. However, if the damage is only reduced then it is considered deflecting the crossblade and it will continue traveling to its next target.
You must be able to see everything that the blade targets.
