Wondrous Item, artifact

This mysterious black device resembles a small, glass-faced slab roughly the size of a deck of cards—eerily similar in shape and design to an object from a long-lost or yet-to-be future. Smooth, cold, and unmarked except for a faint, shifting glow on its surface, the Time Vortex Initiator pulses with arcane energy that distorts the very air around it. When activated, the device emits a rising hum, and a swirling vortex of silver-blue light tears open nearby—a rift through the very fabric of time.

As an action, the user can activate the Time Vortex Initiator, causing a crackling, spiral vortex of temporal energy to open in an unoccupied space within 5 feet. The portal remains open for 1 minute or until dispelled. Usage requires a Dexterity check; each successful usage, the DC goes down by 2, and each unsuccessful usage, the DC goes up by 1. On first use, DC is 15, rolled with disadvantage.

The user and up to six willing creatures touching them may step into the vortex, traveling to a different point in time as determined by the player and approved by the DM. However, the device can only transport users exactly 100, 200, 300, etc., years into the past or future—never more or less. This limitation is hard-coded into the artifact’s design, and bypassing it requires divine intervention or apocalyptic-level magic.

Attunment, while optional, does provide benefits. Takes 2 hours to attune. When attuned, all uses have advantage, other than first roll; If opted to attune before first use, first use no longer has disadvantage.
