When attuned to this ocarina, your body movements are able to adequately move air through the ocarina so it plays music. This item has a number of charges equal to half your level rounded up, which restore fully on a long rest or restore by 1 charge when you roll for initiative.

You can use the Magic action with this item to expend one charge and have either of the two following effects:

-Major Chord: You bolster the next attack you make by playing a beautiful chord through the ocarina. Until the end of your next turn, your next melee attack deals extra thunder damage as a number of d6s equal to your maximum charges for this item plus your DEX modifier. 

-Minor Chord: You make a shrieking howl from the ocarina, blasting nearby enemies with energy. All creatures of your choice within a 15 ft. radius circle originating at yourself is forced to make a saving throw equal to 8 plus your proficiency bonus and your DEX modifier, taking thunder damage as a number of d6s equal to your maximum charges for this item on a fail or half that on a save. Large or smaller creatures which fail the saving throw are knocked back directly to the edge of the circle.
