Weapon (whip), common

This slender whip appears simple at first glance — a length of supple, dark green leather braided with faintly iridescent strands that shimmer when caught in the light. Tiny barbs, almost like rose thorns, are spaced along its length, more decorative than dangerous. When moved quickly, it sometimes gives off a faint scent of rain on moss.

There is an odd quality to its shadow: occasionally it seems slightly delayed, moving a heartbeat after the whip itself.


Task to Become Uncommon

The Thornlash Echo was originally woven from Feywild vines and bound with glamour threads during the First Convergence. To begin awakening that ancient magic, the wielder must:

Take the whip into a glade or thicket that still bears a trace of the Feywild’s influence — a grove where flowers glow faintly, or where laughter is heard with no one present.

There, under the moon, the wielder must dance or move with joyful abandon, allowing the whip to flow freely through the air as if part of the dance, for at least an hour without striking in anger.

If done sincerely, faint motes of green and lilac light will gather around the whip, and it will softly tighten in their hand, ready to reveal more of its true nature.

Proficiency with a Whip allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.


This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.

Slow. If you hit a creature with this weapon and deal damage to it, you can reduce its Speed by 10 feet until the start of your next turn. If the creature is hit more than once by weapons that have this property, the Speed reduction doesn’t exceed 10 feet.
