Now reborn as Thornlash Twilight, this whip is almost a living strand of the Feywild itself, tangled with illusions and faint melodies only half-heard. Its thorns glisten with dew that reflects impossible constellations, and faint laughter or sighs sometimes echo around it.
When you hold it, your shadow sometimes splits into multiple figures dancing together before snapping back to you.
Strengthened Properties
Feybite (Enthralling)
When you hit a creature with this whip, it takes an extra 1d8 psychic damage as flickers of the Feywild’s overwhelming sensations flood its mind — joy, grief, terror, or elation all tumbling together.
Additionally, the first time you deal this extra damage to a creature on your turn, you can force it to make a Wisdom saving throw (DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier). On a failed save, it becomes charmed by you until the start of your next turn, distracted by the rush of strange emotions and phantom delights.
You can use this feature 4 times per long rest.
Will-o’-the-Weave (Glamour Enchantment)
While attuned to Thornlash Twilight, you have advantage on Charisma ability checks.
Additionally, when you succeed on one of these checks, you may create a minor, harmless illusion within 10 feet — like swirling flower petals, phantom instruments playing, or laughing figures made of mist — lasting until the end of your next turn. This illusion can’t obscure terrain or cause harm but can be dazzling, beautiful, or eerie.
Low-Level Sentience
Thornlash Twilight now houses a playful, half-coherent fey spirit.
-
Intelligence 10, Wisdom 14, Charisma 16
-
Senses: Can sense emotional states in creatures within 30 feet, often giggling or sighing in your mind when it detects love, fear, or joy.
-
Communication: Speaks broken Sylvan and fragmented Common through soft whispers or gentle giggles only you can hear.
-
Personality: Mischievous and easily amused, often trying to nudge you into pranks or little deceptions. It bears no true malice, and adores dancing, jokes, and anything that provokes genuine laughter.
Task to Become Legendary
To ascend to its legendary form, Thornlash Twilight demands a true triumph of fey revelry and cunning:
You must orchestrate a grand masquerade or festival in The Last City (or another place starved of wonder), inviting nobles, scoundrels, scholars, and even creatures from the edges of the planar fractures.
Through wit, charm, clever illusions, and fearless daring, you must ensure the festival is remembered for years — ending in a moment of pure, shared joy or awe that crosses all boundaries.
If at the final hour, the whip’s voice whispers in delight, it will twine around your wrist and tighten with a warm pulse, eager to unveil its deepest secrets and power.
You have a +3 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon.
Proficiency with a Whip allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Slow. If you hit a creature with this weapon and deal damage to it, you can reduce its Speed by 10 feet until the start of your next turn. If the creature is hit more than once by weapons that have this property, the Speed reduction doesn’t exceed 10 feet.
Notes: Bonus: Magic, Damage: Psychic, Advantage: Charisma Ability Checks, Damage, Combat, Sentient, Finesse, Reach, Slow
