Tidepiercer now speaks with the voice of the ocean. It is no longer merely a tool — it is a guardian, a singer of drowned truths, and a tidecaller to ancient forces that sleep beneath the waves. The blade glows brighter, with an ever-moving ripple of living water flowing just beneath the surface of the metal. Seafoam and salt cling to its edge no matter where it goes.
Properties
-
You gain a +3 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this weapon.
-
Deepflow (Perfected). You gain a swimming speed of 60 feet, can breathe underwater, and gain resistance to cold damage and immunity to pressure and underwater blindness. You can cast water breathing at will and control water once per long rest without expending a spell slot.
-
Abyssal Pulse. As a bonus action, once per short rest, you can release a wave of abyssal dread in a 20-foot radius. All hostile creatures in the area must succeed on a DC 18 Wisdom saving throw or be frightened for 1 minute. Creatures frightened this way are also restrained by spectral kelp until the end of their next turn. A frightened creature can repeat the save at the end of each of its turns.
Sentience (Improved)
Tidepiercer, Herald of the Deep is a sentient neutral weapon with an Intelligence of 14, Wisdom of 16, and Charisma of 16. It can understand, read, and speak Aquan and communicates telepathically with its wielder.
-
Personality. Tidepiercer is calm, melancholic, and deeply ancient. It respects silence and reverence but despises needless cruelty or disruption of natural cycles. It often sings in the back of the wielder’s mind — low, mournful hymns of leviathans and storms.
-
The glaive considers its wielder a warden of balance and offers guidance in times of moral uncertainty.
Task to Become an Artifact: “Summon the Endless Maw”
To unlock its final evolution, the wielder must travel to the Abyssal Rift, where the Elemental Plane of Water churns against the edge of the Abyss itself. There, they must calm a raging elemental storm, survive the call of the Endless Maw — an ancient leviathan that devours planes — and willingly offer the glaive into its jaws. Only a wielder who trusts the sea to return it shall be deemed worthy.
If the wielder's soul is judged pure by the elemental currents, Tidepiercer will return... changed.
Proficiency with a Glaive allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Graze. If your attack roll with this weapon misses a creature, you can deal damage to that creature equal to the ability modifier you used to make the attack roll. This damage is the same type dealt by the weapon, and the damage can be increased only by increasing the ability modifier.
