Weapon (longsword), legendary (requires attunement)
"That sword was used to separate our world from the demons."

This sleek blade is rumored to have belonged to a legendary demon swordsman, passed down to his son. Yamato is far sharper than ordinary blades and is imbued with tremendous demonic power. The sword is said to be able to cut through anything, even the very fabric of space itself.

  • Yamato is a longsword with the finesse property and replaces the Sap mastery with the Vex mastery.
  • You gain a +3 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this weapon. In addition, the weapon ignores Resistance to Slashing damage.
  • Whenever you score a critical hit with this weapon, the target takes an extra 2d6 Slashing damage.
  • Yamato automatically scores a critical hit on objects and deals maximum damage.

The sword has a maximum of 20 charges that can be expended to use the following properties. The sword regains 1d10 + 5 expended charges at the end of a short or long rest. When you score a critical hit using Yamato against a hostile creature, you regain 1 charge.

  1. Judgement Cut (1 Charge)
Draw and sheath the blade in a single motion, creating a distortion in space that slices the target multiple times.
    • When you make a weapon attack with the Yamato, you can replace the attack with a use of Judgement Cut. Each creature in a 5-foot-radius sphere, centered on a point you choose within 30ft of you, makes a DC 19 Dexterity saving throw. On a failed save, they take 1d12 Slashing damage + any damage modifiers when you make a regular attack. On a successful save, the creature only takes half as much damage.
  2. Spatial Slash (3 Charges)
As a bonus action, Yamato can be directed to cut open space itself to connect two points.
    • Slash the space in front of you and open a two-way portal. Choose an unoccupied point within 100ft, the second portal appears there. Any creature can use their movement to enter the portal and emerge on the other side, but projectiles or objects cannot. The portals exist for 3 rounds.
    • If you expend two more charges (for a total of 5 charges spent), you can instead cast the Dimension Door spell as a bonus action.
    • If you expend 7 more charges (for a total of 10 charges spent), you can instead cast the Plane Shift spell as a bonus action.
  3. Judgement Cut End (5 Charges)
As an action, draw and sheath the blade in a single motion with extreme focus, creating multiple distortions in space around you.
    • Each creature of your choice within 30ft of you makes a DC 19 Dexterity saving throw, taking 6d12 Slashing damage on a failed save. On a successful save, the creature only takes half as much damage.
  4. Separation of the Body and Soul (10 Charges)
As an action, plunge the sword into your torso, creating an astral shadow of yourself.
    • Until the end of a long rest, your max hp is reduced by 5d12+10. An astral shadow manifests in an unoccupied space within 30ft of you. The astral shadow has your statistics when you take this action, except for the following differences:
      1. The shadow has only one-third of your max hp (after the max hp reduction) and two-thirds your armor class, and when using an ability with resources/charges, it uses yours.
      2. The shadow does not have your magic items nor attunements (but can still benefit from their bonuses to saves, and ability scores) except for the Yamato (which can only be used for attacks or Judgement Cut).
      3. The shadow cannot cast spells nor take the magic action and takes its turn together with yours.
    • As a bonus action, you can command the shadow to take actions, otherwise it takes the dodge action (it can still move and take reactions by itself). The shadow lasts for 1 minute or when you use this ability again.

Proficiency with a Longsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.

This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.

Sap. If you hit a creature with this weapon, that creature has Disadvantage on its next attack roll before the start of your next turn.

Notes: Bonus: Magic, Damage, Combat, Versatile, Sap
