Potion, uncommon

A Thunderflame sphere is an opaque, sealed glass sphere, approximately 6 inches in diameter. Within it, a viscous orange liquid encases a mottled blue and brown Pietersite runestone, intricately carved with sigils and runes of thunder.

When thrown, these spheres explode on impact with any hard surface. The explosion deals thunder damage in a 10-foot radius from the point of impact and coats everything within that area of effect in alchemist's fire.

Any creature or object in the area of effect must make a DC 13 Dexterity saving throw. On a failed save, they take 2d8 thunder damage, are pushed 10 feet away from the impact point, and gain the Burning condition. On a successful save, the thunder damage is halved, and they are neither pushed nor Burning.

A Thunderflame sphere can be thrown 20'/60' as an improvised weapon, requiring the Utilize action.

These spheres are crafted by spellcasters who know the Thunderwave spell and are proficient with Alchemist's supplies. Each Thunderflame sphere costs 125 GP to create and requires 8 days of work.

Due to their dangerous and fragile nature, Thunderflame spheres are generally stored in felt-lined metal tubes designed for protection.
