You can use this contraption to fly, provided your weight (including whatever you are wearing or carrying) doesn’t exceed 100 pounds. The thopter has a flying speed of 50 feet, and it requires two free hands from the pilot to operate its controls. It can hover while the pilot is able to operate the controls and while all four wings and the anti-gravity enchantment are functioning. If the thopter loses its ability to hover, it falls 50 feet per round as long as the anti-gravity enchantment is operational, otherwise it falls 500 feet per round.

The thopter is 10 feet long, has a 15-foot wingspan, and weighs 100 pounds. The following elements require regular maintenance to remain functioning.

Anti-gravity enchantment. Reducing the weight of the contraption and its contents by 90% requires a significant investment of mana. Each level of spell slot channelled into the enchantment's crystal core can provide 1 round of anti-gravity. Alternatively, remaining 1 hour within a leyline or 1 minute within a snarl will provide enough charge to continue operating for the next week.

Navigational system. The navigational controls in the cockpit are delicate and prone to breaking after use. After flight they may require 1 hour of work and 25gp worth of parts to replace.

Wing sockets. Each of the four wings must move freely in their sockets for successful flight. The wings require a weekly application of lubricating fluid to avoid risk of breakdown.
