A young human named Vadreth Blackgeam pleaded to Mephistopheles for magical prowess. In exchange Vadreth promised to demonstrate the glory and power of Mephisto in the mortal realm. To seal the contract the Demon Summoned a snake From its hand and it twisted about a plain wooden walking stick. The head of the snake writhed up the shaft until it came to the head mouth open and then it turned to stone.
In a dark beckoning voice the demon Said "It shall be done. Through you I shall strike fear into the hearts of mortal men. Through you I will reign supreme."
The staff feels extremely light, and is extremely easy to wield. Valdreth Must have this staff on his person at all times or he will lose all his warlock abilities.
As a bonus action the wielder can expend hit points to deal necrotic damage to a target up to 60 feet away, one hit point per one damage.
When making a melee attack the staff does an extra 1d4 poison damage and must make a constitution saving throw dc 13
Every time Valdreth kills a mortal with a soul, the staff feeds. For each ten mortal souls consumed a lesser demon of CR 2 will be summoned into the world. The demon is free to act as it pleases and is an ally only to Valdreth.
Periodically Mephistopheles May attempt to gain control over the user if they fail a DC 15 wisdom check. He will only do so if the wielder is not fulfilling the pact to his satisfaction.
Proficiency with a Quarterstaff allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Topple. If you hit a creature with this weapon, you can force the creature to make a Constitution saving throw (DC 8 plus the ability modifier used to make the attack roll and your Proficiency Bonus). On a failed save, the creature has the Prone condition.
