While holding this Shield, you have a +1 bonus to Armor Class, in addition to the Shield’s normal bonus to AC.
Blessings of the Crown. You have resistance to acid damage and are immune to the petrified condition.
Deadly Rebuke. Immediately after a creature hits you with a melee attack, you can use your reaction to deal 3d10 acid damage to that creature.
Petrifying Heraldry. Once per long rest, as a bonus action, you can make the face's eyes glow brightly. Choose one creature you can see within 30 feet of you. The creature must succeed on a DC 20 Constitution saving throw, or it has the restrained condition as its body turns to stone. The restrained creature must make another DC 20 Constitution saving throw at the start of its next turn. On a failed save, the creature has the petrified condition for 24 hours. On a successful save, the restrained condition ends.
Sentience. The shield is sentient and has the following properties:
- The shield has an Intelligence of 8, a Wisdom of 10, and a Charisma of 12, its vision is restricted to the direction its facing.
- The shield can speak, read, and understand Common.
Personality. The shield is a tad slow, but enthusiastic about adventure. Like an earnest student, it treats everything as a learning opportunity, though it often takes the wrong lesson, or assigns profound meaning where there is none. Though it does not know why, and is not aware of this bias, the shield has a vile loathing for royalty, particularly those who wear crowns.
Shields require the Utilize action to Don or Doff. You gain the Armor Class benefit of a Shield only if you have training with it.
