A steely quarterstaff with a rubber grip, lined with coiling copper wire, and tipped on either end with reinforced elemental crystals of air. An accidental creation by the Artificer Skye Solbeard, in her efforts to forge a Wand of Lightning for herself, this staff was designed after the lightning rod she'd used to charge the wood for her wand was struck and infused with the raw elemental energies of the storm.
This staff can be wielded as a magic quarterstaff that grants a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with it. It also has the following additional properties.
Rolling Thunder. When an attack hits, the staff builds momentum for the next swing. Should the staff hit on the subsequent second attack, the momentum is released in a thunderclap, causing the target to take an additional 2d6 thunder damage. The target must succeed on a DC 15 Strength saving throw or be shoved 15 feet away and become prone.
Overstorm. As an action, the staff's wielder may focus the static ions around themselves into the staff, building energy into one of the crystal tips, and smash it into the ground, causing a deafening thunderclap audible out to 600 feet. Each creature within 30 feet of you (not including you) must make a DC 15 Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, a creature takes 3d6 thunder damage and becomes deafened for 1 minute. On a successful save, a creature takes half damage and isn't deafened. Any creatures that fail the save by more than 5 are stunned until the wielder's next turn. This effect overloads the staff, reducing it to a +1 quarterstaff until the next dawn.
Proficiency with a Quarterstaff allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Topple. If you hit a creature with this weapon, you can force the creature to make a Constitution saving throw (DC 8 plus the ability modifier used to make the attack roll and your Proficiency Bonus). On a failed save, the creature has the Prone condition.
Notes: Bonus: Magic, by a monk with some affinity for storms., Versatile, Topple
