The gloves are comminly worn by monks for fighting. The gloves give you no added a.c. and you are still considered having no armor on the gloves give you add +8 to your damage roles for attacks using ki points. 

The breastplate and shoulder protectors of this armor are made of leather that has been stiffened by being boiled in oil. The rest of the armor is made of softer and more flexible materials.
