This greatsword contains the soul of a primordial blue dragon named Atheraxaz. Once the lustful, gluttonous, vain and tyrannical king of his dragonborn subjects, he was betrayed by one of his daughter-wives and the result was his soul being trapped in this weapon.
Magic Weapon
Zaxur is a magic weapon that grants a +3 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with it. The sword also functions as a Giant Slayer Greatsword.
Sentience
Zaxur is a sentient, lawful evil item with an Intelligence of 20, a Wisdom of 17, and a Charisma of 22. It has hearing and darkvision out to a range of 120 feet, and blindsight out to 60 ft.
The weapon communicates telepathically with its wielder and can speak, read, and understand Celestial, Common and Draconic.
Personality
The powerful blue dragon known Atheraxaz lives within Zaxur. Atheraxaz is an intelligent, gluttonous, lustful and vain being used to being worshiped, and being trapped in this blade has done nothing to temper his personality. The weapon expects it's wielder to consider it as a god-king, and gets upset if not shown the proper respect. Assuming the sword finds the wielders devotion satisfactory, it will frequently offer it's strategies as a tactical genius to the wielder. However if the wielder does not show the proper respect Atheraxaz will suggest strategies it knows will get it's wielder killed. The ultimate goal of this weapon is to eventually convince it's wielder to release Atheraxaz's soul so that he may once again indulge himself in the world.
Blindsight
You gain Blindsight out to 60 ft.
Children of Atheraxaz
If you are a blue dragon descendant attuned to the sword, you gain the following benefits:
- You have immunity to lightning damage.
- You gain a fly speed equal to your walking speed.
Lightning Strikes
On a hit this weapon deals an additional (1d8) lightning damage, and the target must make a DC10 Constitution Saving Throw or be paralyzed.
Atheraxaz's Fury
Once per turn when you hit a creature with an attack, you can send a blast of lightning through their body, the target and each creature in a 5 ft. x 15 ft. line directly behind the target must make a DC 17 Dexterity Saving Throw, on a failed save they take 10 (4d4) force damage.
Shadow of Atheraxaz
If you are holding the sword, you can use your action to cast the Illusory Dragon spell (DC 17) from it, summoning a blue dragon with lightning damage. You can’t use this property again until the next dawn.
Curse
If the wielder dies while they are attuned to the sword their soul is consumed by the blade, and sent inside of an inescapable demi-plane with it's other victims, notably Arthaxaz.
Destroying the Sword
The only way to destroy the sword is to be slain by it, thus having your soul trapped inside, then Atheraxaz must be slain, Once this has been done the blade will be destroyable by regular means, until after 24 hours when his soul regenerates. Should the blade be broken all of the souls trapped inside of it are released, including Artheraxaz.
Proficiency with a Greatsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
