Weapon (spear), artifact (requires attunement by a Requires attunement by a magic caster for a period of two days)

The Willow Spear is a simple looking spear made of three braided willow branches with a sharpened end, scorched and hardened with fire.

The spear is imbued with the spirit of the willow tree that gifted the original owner, a firbolg druid, with the branches used in the spear's making. In order to become fully attuned to the spear, the user must spend two days in deep concentration to commune with the spirit and learn it's name (named through DM discretion). Once the name is learned, the user then unlocks the full potential of the spear and gains the ability to upgrade the spear by strengthening the bond with the spirit (leveling up while attuned to the spear). If unattuned, the spear has the stats of a normal common spear.

-To attune, roll a WIS or INT (based on the requirements of the user's casting) check against DC 12 once per day for two days.  For every failed roll, add another day. (Nat 20 results in immediate attunement)
