Wondrous Item, very rare (requires attunement by a Fighter)

Sages recount the history of four tokens that were placed in the hands of four mighty warriors in four different parts of the world. One in the north, another in the south, as well as one in the east and west.

The northern warrior, a brutally direct agent of change, led his people in a war for their freedom. The conflict went on for almost a decade, with the northern warrior leading from the front lines through it's entirety. The conflict finally ended when the northern warrior slayed the warlord who had enslaved his people.

The southern warrior, a general in the king's army, was as terrifying in a game of dragonchess as he was on the battlefield. With his tactical mind, many conflicts were resolved with no casualties suffered by the troops under his command. Throughout the time in which he was serving the king, the southern kingdom enjoyed much prosperity.

The eastern warrior, a mercenary with a heart of gold and grit, underestimated by those around her during her youth. She quickly earned the respect and reputation that befits a warrior of her skill. Described as a blur of blood and steel on the battlefield. She could only be hired for causes that aligned with what she thought was right, and when she was, she won.

The western warrior, a jaded veteran with many scars, came out of retirement to defend the small village he had settled in. Marauders thought they had found an easy score when they saw the old man in plate armor wielding a warhammer that a man in his prime would have difficulty lifting. They were wrong.

Attuning to this magic token grants a secondary effect to owner's Second Wind ability. The effect differs depending on the martial archetype that the wearer chose to specialize in.

There are four of these tokens in existence. Finding additional tokens will provide you with additional benefits, however additional tokens will never grant you an ability that is tied to an archetype that you have not specialized in

Activating Second Wind while attuned to the Token of fighting spirit...

  • Battle Master:...allies within 30ft of you, do not provoke opportunity attacks until the end of your next turn.
  • Champion:...allies within 30ft of you, gain a +2 bonus to attack rolls until the end of your next turn.
  • Eldritch Knight:...allies within 30ft of you, gain advantage against being charmed, frightened and being put to sleep for 1 minute.

  • Purple Dragon Knight:... allies within 30ft of you, if suffering from any effect that requires them to make a saving throw on their turn, can make the saving throw with advantage when you use your Second Wind.
  • Gunslinger:... allies within 30ft of you, can take two reactions until the end of your next turn
  • Echo Knight:... you can choose a willing ally within 30ft and swap places with them the via teleportation. If you have an echo summoned, you may choose a second willing ally to swap places with your echo.

If you locate a second Token of Fighting Spirit and attune to it, allies within 30ft of you benefit from your Second Wind's healing effect.

If you locate a third Token of Fighting Spirit and attune to it, you gain an additional Second Wind per rest.

If you locate the fourth and final Token of Fighting Spirit and attune to it, all four Tokens meld together into "The Mark of the Warrior". You gain the benefits of being attuned to the first, second and third Tokens, however this only requires one attunement slot

Your attunement to The Tokens of Fighting Spirit/The Mark of the Warrior, can only be broken if you are defeated in single combat or if you die. If you are defeated by a fighter in single combat, one token will stay with the fighter who defeated you. any additional tokens are teleported to a random worthy warrior on the plane of existence in which you were defeated. If you die by any means other than single combat, all tokens are dispersed in the same fashion.
