Armor (shield), rare (requires attunement)

"Possession is nine-tenths of the law."

The center of this shield is a portal to a pocket dimension. The dimension was too hostile for life and was useless to the wizard who created it, so they threw it away. It was found by a young artificer who found a unique use for the pocket dimension.

While wielding this shield you gain a unique reaction. When you are hit with a melee attack you can attempt to use the shield to swallow the weapon. The creature that hit you must make a DC 15 Strength saving throw. On a failure, their weapon is pulled from their hands and disappears into the pocket dimension.

The Shield of Disarming can only hold one weapon and only for a short time. The shield can only hold onto a weapon for a number of rounds equal to half your Strength modifier, rounded down (minimum of 2). The weapon will be ejected at the end of your turn and lands 5ft away in the nearest safe square.

A creature can attempt to retrieve the weapon early by making a Strength check (Athletics) against the wielder. On a success, they retrieve their weapon, but they also take 1d8 psychic damage from the hostile pocket dimension.

Shields require the Utilize action to Don or Doff. You gain the Armor Class benefit of a Shield only if you have training with it.
