This razor sharp black steel main-gauche has a solid basket hilt with a black leather and wire-wrapped pommel. The basket itself is nicked and scarred from many blocked strikes over the years, but the blood-red garnet cabochon in the pommel is immaculately smooth and polished. Beneath it, with enough light, one can barely make out a series of interlocking symbols.

If attuned to this weapon, it has the Returning property. Also, once per day you may receive the damage dealt with a successful attack with this weapon as healing, (this includes damage granted by sneak attacks, buffing spells, or a critical hit. The healing is calculated from the actual damage dealt after all resistances). The blood or life force of the creature struck with this ability visibly flows rapidly up the blade and coats the wielder's hand in it, before absorbing into their flesh with a blink of red light from the pommel stone. After this, the garnet appears pitch black like onyx, until the attuned user completes a long rest.

Proficiency with a Dagger allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
