Weapon (crossbow, hand), artifact (requires attunement by a by Gnome Sorcerer or Gnome Wizard)

This crossbow began its life as an ornate hand crossbow that was gifted to the Phairit family from a human King who enlisted the help of the family.  It has since been reworked and tinkered to work as a light crossbow in gnomish hands.  Due to the shape and changes made, it is only usable by gnomes.  The fire opal that once adorned it was enchanted and used to heat a small steam tank.  By the use of clockworks and steam, this crossbow draws the bow back on its own after firing making for a more powerful shot while removing the "loading" property.  Due to this, it does 1d6+1 piercing damage on a hit.

Proficiency with a Hand Crossbow allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
