Staff (quarterstaff), uncommon (requires attunement by a monk or spellcaster)

The Wubby Whacker is a silvery quarterstaff with odd engravings. Originally made by the grey dwarves to deter shadow goblins, the Wubby Whacker was used to slaughter the Shadow Goblin Boss Wubby. It has a number of interesting properties.

The Wubby Whacker is a magical quarterstaff for the purposes of overcoming immunity and resistance to nonmagical damage. It also has a number of charges. When found, it has 1d3 charges and can hold a maximum of 5. When the wielder hits a creature with the quarterstaff, they can expend a number of charges to flood the Wubby Whacker with power for that strike. When empowered, the Wubby Whacker deals an additional 1d6 force damage plus 1d6 per charge expended, to a maximum of 6d6. This damage increases by an additional 1d6 against goblinoids, to a maximum of 6d6. A wielder cannot expend more charges than half of their level, rounded down, and cannot empower more than one strike per turn.

The Wubby Whacker requires more magical energy to be recharged and does not replenish naturally. Over the course of a minute, the wielder can expend a spell slot or ki points to recharge the Wubby Whacker. The Wubby Whacker regains a number of charges equal to the level of the spell slot or number of ki points expended. Once recharged this way, the Wubby Whacker cannot be recharged until the next dawn.

Proficiency with a Quarterstaff allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
